Undergraduate Researcher, with Undergraduate Thesis
Parasite Evolutionary Genomics Group
Garrett is a former undergraduate researcher in the Parasite Evolutionary Genomics Group. He assisted Rodrigo and Yiran with comparative genome analysis of Cryptosporidium parvum. Using the updated genomes of the Cryptosporidium parvum parasite, he used comparative genome analysis to identify fast-evolving genes that could be of interest for treatment of the disease. Furthermore these genes of interest are being used to group other species of Cryptosporidium to previously unknown phylogenetic clades.
Garrett graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor's of Science in Genetics from UGA.
